I had never really thought about the idea of blogging until this class. I have learned that there are personal blogs, that people have made to talk about a passion of their's or some people create blogs to teach or promote something in their life. I think it is a good idea to bring blogging into the classroom. I would personally use it for a specific project or maybe to use as a way for parents to go to and see what their child's classroom is doing, instead of putting out a newletter. I like how comments can be posted, so you could respond to the parents if they have a question or just want to say if they like what is happening.
I think that I wont continue my current blog, but in a classroom situation I would definately start one. I think some advice for new bloggers is that its important to keep up with it. I think its a good idea to have a somewhat of a broad topic so that you can expand on the information for a long time.
I enjoyed learning about blogging, I think its a good tool and a different kind of technology to use in the classroom.

Students with disabilities and technology
I have signed up for classes for next semester and one of them discusses disabilities and students. This class has got me thinking about how much technology has advanced so much for students with a wide range of disabilities. There is a lot of adaptive technology now. The blind can now read different kinds of texts such as email or assignments on a device called Braille display. Students with dyslexia have benefited from different software programs that allows students to read faster and with better comprehension. There are also such tools that allow students to use a keyboard with just the slightest touch, or a mouse that can be operated by a person's foot.
I find that it absolutely amazing that technology has advanced in many ways, for ALL. Some times technology can hinder a person and some people get really caught up in the tech world, but it also can benefit people so much. Technology is making it easier for disabled students to stay in the same classroom of their peers or be able to keep up with others. Technology is helpful and is sometimes most definately needed in the classroom.

Think before you use technology?
Criminals should not use technology
A man in vermont steals a bus and then takes the time to record his crime, add music and then posts it to YouTube for all to see..

Technology penalty
I rely on technology a lot. One of the biggest penalties that I have found is; my cellphone. I no longer no anyone's number, only by their name I have put in my phonebook. I have fully relied on my cell to keep these numbers safe. Of course over the years my cell has failed me and I have lost all of my numbers. Address/phonebooks never get lost or stolen usually. And every time I get a new phone, I once again just load the names and numbers, never knowing what they actually are.
I also rely on my cellphone to keep certain passwords. 1) not a good idea if my phone gets stolen, then whoever has it can access quite a bit and 2) if I lose my phone; i can't access pretty much anything.
Computers always have the potential to crash, I have a lot of music, papers, and pictures. All could be lost if my computer decided not to work some day. I have already crashed a dell laptop, I couldnt even get past the start up screen. I try to use a pin drive and save important things, but, you just never know. SO many people use their computers or laptops for personal and business use and then all can be lost and hard drives unrepairable.
I think sometimes I need to use a pen and paper once in awhile and not always rely on something that needs to be plugged in or that has the potential of crashing.

To get the flu shot, or not to?
The Flu Shot
This article is about the benefits for pregnant women and getting the flu shot. Doctors are pushing for pregnant women to get vaccinated because it can also help thier unborn baby as well. Research has found infants later experience less sickness after they are born, if their mother got the flu vaccine. A lot of pregnant mothers are reluctant to be vaccinated.

Toddlers TEXTING?
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/27/technology/personaltech/27basics.html?_r=2&hpw
I found this article written by the New York Times about young children and technology. This article points out the gadgets now available for toddlers, children as young as three, that resemble cellphones! Toddlers can learn about texting or use a gadget that looks like a cellphone. While many of these "toys" can't send or receive texts, children can type and do activities on it.
They also pointed out other cellphones available for elementary to high school that are being used. Many parents are using cellphones and texting as a reward for their children.
I don't agree with toddlers having interactive toys that include learning how to text. I think that there are many other educational toys out there that involved technology that may actually enhance a child's learning. I don't texting is a needed skill, at any age.
